Walter Muzyk of the 700 block of York Street in East Manchester Township, Mount Wolf, "intentionally placed himself in the path of the Norfolk Southern train around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, 8/11/2024, at which time the train struck him accidentally, causing his death," as stated in the coroner's release.
At 11:25 pm on Sunday night, the "York County 911 Center received a call from a Norfolk Southern train conductor who said a male had been struck by a train in the 700 block of 2nd Street in Mount Wolf. Police, Fire, EMS, and the York County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene," York County Office of Emergency Management Public Information Officer Ted Czech told Daily Voice.
Deputy Coroners Kayla Starner and Karen Frank responded to the scene to investigate and certify the death. His time of death was Monday morning, according to the release. The cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma, and the manner is a suicide, as stated in the release.
An autopsy will not be done, but routine toxicology was obtained, the release states.
York County Regional Police are investigating.

Walter attended Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester, according to his obituary on Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. website.
As stated in the obituary:
"Walter enjoyed playing with his three dogs, Rebel, Lilo, and Nala. He had fun building and racing lawn mowers, working on his car, building cars in GTA, working on his boat, fishing, building Lego’s, and he was happy around water at the beach and at the pool."
He was an only child and is survived by his parents and grandparents, according to his obituary. His visitation and funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 17.
